Spotting good opportunities

The Outreach team is limited in the kind of opportunities we can organize because it is focused on larger participation open to the entire Church. We look for opportunities that can involve at least 20 people. Where possible, small groups should focus on opportunities involving 8-12 people and leave larger serving opportunities available for the Outreach team. These are likely serving opportunities that the Outreach Team will organize throughout the year:

  • Toy Drive around Christmas
  • Blood Drive
  • Free Car Wash
  • Habitat for Humanity build opportunity (This is suitable for smaller groups as well)
  • Festival Booths at Taste of Champaign, Sweet Corn Festival, and Quad Day.

Participating in summer festivals will require a large number of volunteers. The Outreach team hopes small groups can help with these events by using them as their monthly service project for June and August 2005.
