children's worship

Kids' Xpres kids at First Presbyterian Church Xpress the mystery of the presence of God at Sunday morning Children's Worship.

Sunday morning Children’s Worship meets immediately following the Scripture Lesson during the 11:00 a.m. traditional service. (Please note that Children's Worship takes hiatus during the summer months.)

Children go with instructors to the Children’s Worship Center, Room S-203, to participate in Godly Play, a program designed to focus on their spirituality within a community of children, similar to the adult experience during worship. Godly Play has many advantages for our young disciples of Christ including:
  • preparation to participate with quiet reverence in worship services;
  • permission to enjoy and express the mystery of the presence of God;
  • stimulation of the creative process through wondering;
  • and identification with a community as children of God.
Children ages 4 through 2nd grade may participate in Children's Worship during the fall and winter.  Second graders study worship and the sacraments during the month of February and then are encouraged to experience worship during the remainder of the regular worship service with their families throughout the spring.  Children ages 4 through 1st grade continue to worship at the Children's Worship Center.
