A reminder that this week we have one service at 10 AM.   Please spread the word.  We conclude our series on American Idols this week as we look at the idol of success. 

Back to Church Sunday, Sept. 12
How many people do you know who “used to go” to church, but just don’t anymore? If you are like most people, you know quite a few, or maybe you are one of them yourself.  Back to Church Sunday is designed to be a special service dedicated to people who do not regularly attend church, a time when those who have left the church are encouraged to return and give it another try.  As Sept. 12 approaches consider someone that you could invite to come back to church. 

Back to Church Sunday Help
We need help to make Back to Church Sunday work.  Here are a few ways you can help.
Help to make phone calls- We want to have every member of our church called to invite them to come to church on Sept. 12.  We are looking for people to make about 20 calls to invite people to church. 
Help to prepare and serve breakfast- We also want to serve a hot breakfast and are looking for people to help prepare and and serve breakfast. We will be serving breakfast from 9:30-11:15 and looking for people to work 45 minute shifts so that you will be able to serve and worship.

Field Day of the Past Help
Field Day of the Past is coming Sept. 17-19, and this year St. Matthew's will have a booth to support mission.  We will be selling ice tea and cookies.  We are looking for help in the 2 ways.  
First, we will be selling cookies and are looking for people to bake cookies.  If you plan to bake, please sign up below and bring your cookies to the church on Thursday September 16, before 7 PM where we will begin staging.  We are hoping to have at least 1000 packages.  Please package your cookies and SEAL them ( Ziploc, ribbon, etc.) in packages that are transparent and  that can be sold for $1
Second, we are looking for people to sell the cookies and tea.  We are asking for 2 hours shifts from 8 AM to 6 PM.

The Good And Beautiful God!   
This fall many of our small groups and Sunday School Classes  will be embarking on a ten week study based on James Bryan Smith’s book, The Good and Beautiful God.  We invite you to join a group starting the week of September 18th.  More information about the books and groups next week.  We will be selling books for $13 starting Sept. 5th.  If you have any questions contact Pastor Gordon at pastorgkp@gmail.com or 784-3176.
