Women of the UMC

Christ-centered fellowship for women
of all ages and stages of life.
Our Purpose

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Fundraising for Missions

Rummage Sales
Thursday through Saturday of the first weeks in April and October, we serve the community by providing clean, inexpensive clothing, toys and household items many might not otherwise be able to afford.  Proceeds go to support Mt. Moriah’s mission projects.

Appraisal Fair
Each year, usually in February, we host professional experts in antiques and collectibles who provide verbal estimates of values and a history of items submitted. Proceeds go to support the Mt. Moriah ’s mission projects.

Mission Projects Supported by UMW

Prayer Pagers
We provide pagers to congregation members during illness or hospitalization. A phone call to the pager causes it to vibrate reminding the recipient that a prayer has been lifted.

Youth Service Projects
We supply scholarship money to help cover expenses of the youth for mission trips.

Pastor’s Discretionary Fund
Money is distributed to needy in the community at the discretion of the Pastor.

Annual Apportionments
We help support Mt. Moriah’s portion to United Methodist global ministries.

Christmas Anonymous
Along with other groups of Mt. Moriah , we provide Christmas presents and food for community families in need.

Selected Missions and Special Requests
We support local charities such as Tender Mercies, SEM and YWCA House of Peace as well as other Mt. Moriah needs such as the Ark of Learning and campus improvements.
