Chaplain Training Requirements
Christian Resort Ministries, intl. Training Division is under the Ministry Division. The board of directors of CRM International has established credentialing for chaplains based upon their ministry assignments. Chaplains who lead worship in one of our destination RV Parks are required to have ordination with their respective denominations.
Lay chaplains who come to us for assignment without Bible School are required to complete 30 hours of training within their first 18 months which will include Life of Christ, Old Testament Survey, New Testament Survey, Missions, The Ministry of the Holy Spirit, Pastoral Care, The Book of Acts, and three other book studies as electives, and finally either Anthropology or Bible Archeology.
This training can be either classroom, correspondence, or extension. New chaplains receive 40 Hours of Hands On Chaplaincy developed by the Baptist General Convention of Texas with an additional 12 hours of division specific chaplaincy training taught by our division managers. There is a six hour continuing education piece required annually. In addition, we train our chaplains in NOVA disaster response, Asist Suicide Intervention training, and CISM first responder intervention.
