Garden Lakes Baptist Church has a music ministry which includes choirs for preschoolers, younger children, older children, adults, and senior adults, as well as three hand bell choirs.

Preschool Choir- This choir is composed of 3 - 5 year old boys and girls. They meet on Sunday evenings from 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. in the preschool department. The purpose of the choir is to help children discover the wonderful world of music, to learn to express themselves through music, to experiment with melody and rhythm instruments, and to develop basic musical concepts. The children have fun with music at the same time that learning takes place.

Younger Children's Choir (Music Makers)- This choir is composed of children in kindergarten through 2nd grade. They meet on Sunday evenings from 5:30-6:00 p.m. in the children's department. The purpose of this choir is to help children learn to sing on pitch; listen to music with understanding; learn to move to music; develop the ability to play a rhythm, melody, or harmony instrument; and to become more aware of melody, rhythm, harmony, form, expression, and mood in music.

Older Children's Choir (Young Musicians)- This choir is composed of children grades 3 through 5. They meet on Sunday evenings from 5:30-6:00 p.m. in the choir room. The purpose of this choir is to teach children to sing tunefully; to become more proficient in playing musical instruments; to learn to read musical notation; to learn to lead effectively in worship through music; and to become a learned young musician with musical growth in melody, rhythm, harmony, form, and expression.

MAC Ringers (Musical Arts for Children)-This is a handbell choir for children in grades 4 through 6. They perform several times a year on special programs and in worship.

 

Sanctuary Choir- This choir that provides music for Sunday morning worship services. The group meets on Wednesday nights from 7:15-8:45 p.m. in the choir room. There is no audition for membership in this group. All persons interested in singing and worship leadership are welcome.

Handbell Choirs I and II- These groups are composed of adult hand bell ringers. They meet in the choir room on Sunday afternoons at 4:50 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. respectively. All interested persons should contact the Minister of Music for more information.
