Our Whole Lives

JUST SAY KNOW! Our Whole Lives/Sexuality and Our Faith
Why teach sexuality education in church? We believe sexuality is a God-given gift, and as such, should be celebrated as sacred. In addition, it is our moral duty to provide youth with information to keep them informed and safe in our world.
Wayside has adopted the Our Whole Lives/Sexuality and Our Faith curricula, which was developed by the national UCC and Unitarian Universalist Association, in order to provide an antidote to a culture that is saturated with mixed messages and misinformation about sexuality.
The four core values of the program are:
1) self-worth,
2) respect,
3) sexual health, and
4)justice and inclusivity.
The program teaches that we are responsible to accountable to God, others and ourselves. In addition, we avoid double standards. We teach that women and men of all ages, people of different races, backgrounds, income levels, physical and mental abilities, and sexual orientations must have equal value and rights. The program is taught by trained facilitators and requires parental permission to attend.
