No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome at Wayside.
Wayside United Church of Christ has served the Federal Way and Northeast Tacoma areas for half a century. Some of our members live even further away. You are invited to come by on some Sunday morning and check us out, for either the 8:30 AM service or the 10:00 AM service. We won't require you to believe in any particular theology or creed, in order to join with us in worship or even to become a member. We accept and welcome ALL people — whatever your race or ethnicity, age, previous religious background, theological beliefs, political attitudes, economic situation, family status, sexual orientation, citizenship, etc. etc. If you show up on our Communion Sunday, which is once every month, you are invited to receive the Lord's Supper with us, if you choose.
We are part of the United Church of Christ (UCC), a ‘mainline Protestant’ group that has been around now for about four centuries, and is often described as ‘liberal’ (theologically, but not necessarily politically). Like other UCC churches, we think for ourselves; you will hear preaching that is ‘Always thought-provoking, never mind-controlling.’ The UCC has ‘conferences’ of churches in geographical areas, but has no bishops or other formal church hierarchy.
Our sanctuary is located just north of Dash Point Road (State Route 509) in Federal Way, where it intersects with 21st Avenue S.W., and is across Dash Point Road from Lakota Park. It is set within several acres of luxuriant Pacific Northwest forest, and the glass walls on all sides of our sanctuary seem to bring this outdoor scene inside during worship. We offer plenty of automobile parking. Child care is available during Sunday's worship service.
You are invited to contact us at any time by phone or email; see the ‘contact us’ page of this website. Join us for worship at either service on Sunday morning, or participate in one of our other activities or ministries.
