Open and Affirming
 Wayside UCC
Non-discriminatory Policy
Established May 19, 1991

Revised May 15, 2005
Wayside United Church of Christ takes pride in the fact that we are free to express our own interpretations of the Word, as directed by the Holy Spirit.
As a church in the United Church of Christ we have covenanted together and proclaim that we are open to all people, and we encourage them to share in worship, fellowship, employment and leadership in our congregation.
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, and transgendered people are often discriminated against, both in the church and in society. We commit ourselves to caring and concern for these sisters and brothers by affirming that:
All people share the worth that comes from being unique individuals.
All people are welcome to join our congregation in the same spirit and manner used  in the acceptance of new members.
We covenant to not discriminate against any person, group or organization in hiring, promotion, membership, appointment, use of facility, provision of services or funding on the basis of race, age, size, gender, sexual orientation, gender expression, faith, nationality, ethnicity, different physical abilities, marital status, economic status or political affiliation.
We join together as a covenanted community, to celebrate and share in our common communication and the reassurance that we are indeed created by God, reconciled by Christ and empowered by the grace of the Holy Spirit.
