Biography of Pastor Emeritus Joel E. Bowdan II
Pastor Bowdan was born and raised in beautiful San Diego, CA. He is the eldest of five children to Joel E. Bowdan Sr. and Gwenneth Lowe Bowdan. Coming from a rich family heritage of holiness, Joel was taught, nurtured and mentored in the ways of the Lord from an early age. Following the example of his parents and grandparents, he was obedient to the Gospel of Christ and was baptized in Jesus Name at the age of nine and filled with the Holy Ghost at the age of eleven under the pastorate of the late Bishop John Caldwell. Under this ministry, Joel served faithfully in many capacities; church musician, choir member, PYPU Vice-President, Church Chaplin and operated in the Brotherhood Department.

On November 5, 1966, Joel married a faithful servant of the Lord and his soul mate, Christina Graham. Like Joel, Christina was active in her local assembly. The two were indeed a match made in Heaven. They are the proud parents of three beautiful children, Joel III, Shon and Tanisha and grandparents of nine.

In 1967 following the leading of the Lord, Joel decided to assist in a newly started work under the pastorate of the late District Elder Dr. Andrew J. Cross, Apostolic Faith Garden of Prayer. At this time Joel was serving in capacities at both his home church and Apostolic Faith Garden of Prayer. After a year of doing so, with much prayer Joel felt led to place his complete membership at Apostolic Faith Garden of Prayer. Joel served faithfully in this ministry for 13 years in various capacities; VP of the Corporation, Head Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher, Church Musician, Asst. Pastor and Board Trustee.

In 1980, again following the leading of the Lord, Joel moved his church membership to another newly started ministry; North Park Apostolic Church under the pastorate of Bishop Ray M. Trout. To this ministry Joel was faithful in service and worship. Though not desiring any offices, Joel was soon operating in the capacities of Choir Member, Musician, Sunday School Teacher, Asst. Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, Staff Minister, State Sunday School Superintendent in the AAA Organization, and Instructor at North Park's Bible Institute. Joel also served under the direction of Dr. Loretta Gonzales at the North Park Christian Academy and Apostolic Bible College as an instructor. Joel served faithfully in this ministry for 20 years.

In 2000, with much apprehension and under the leading and direction of the Lord, Joel started a new ministerial work. This ministry began with Bible Study classes taught in his home and later grew to a new church ministry, Word For Life Ministries, Inc. Pastoring together with his wife Christina as the Co-Pastor, God has blessed this ministry to be a place for souls to be reclaimed and brought back to the Lord, for broken lives to be restored and most of all a place to nurture and empower lives through the Word of God.
In January 2007, again by the leading of the Lord and due to certain health related issues, Pastor Joel E. and Co-Pastor Christina Bowdan II relinquished their positions and passed on the torch to Elder Joel E. Bowdan III and Minister Michele Bowdan to continue in their footsteps pressing forward with this great ministry.
Elder Joel E. Bowdan II and Lady Christina Bowdan now serve as consulting leaders of WFLM as Pastor Emeritus and Associate Pastor, respectively.
