I began my ministry with Alki UCC in August of 2001. Prior to that I served a church in Northern California (Modesto) for fourteen years and a church on Long Island, NY (Sayville) for five years.
I have a passion for preaching, teaching, and story-telling. I love to sing and I love to laugh. The scriptures are really life-giving for me, and I try to teach them in a way that they become a "living word" for people and not just dry, dusty words on a page. I like working with people on the edge -- on the edge of the church, on the edge of society, on the edge of despair, and on the edge of their seats -- because it's in those "edge places" that we're most open to God and it's from the "edge places" that God most often speaks to us.
I feel very fortunate to be serving Alki UCC. I get to build on years of good, strong leadership from other pastors. The people truly love their church, genuinely care for each other, and are generous with time and money and love. They are open to new ideas and willing to try something new (at least once!). There is a good spirit in this place, and I rejoice that I get to be part of it.
I live in West Seattle with my partner Mary. I enjoy singing, playing in the snow, my morning sudoku, and when I have time I sing with the Total Experience Gospel Choir
