On Sunday mornings children join us in the sanctuary for the first part of the worship service, when they participate in the opening songs and prayers and gather with the minister for a brief "children's sermon." They then go to Church School classes for the remainder of the worship hour. (On Communion Sundays, usually the first Sunday of the month, they begin in class and join us later for communion.)
Members of the congregation share responsibility for teaching. Cheryl Snyder is our Children's Ministries Coordinator.
Infants to age 4:
Nursery care is provided for children from infancy up to age four.
Age 4 - 6th grade:
We offer a caring, supportive Church School program open to children 4 years old through 6th grade. Our classes are led by enthusiastic church members who love what they do.
Our goal is:
To empower all ages to be transformed in Christ as they:
explore meaning and mystery in the Bible;
celebrate in worship, sacraments, education, and service;
engage in ministries of love, justice, and witness;
and live in inclusive communities of faith shaped and led by the Holy Spirit.
We are using One Room Sunday School
, a multi-age learning curriculum for our students aged 4 through middle school. Designed to provide a good foundation of the Bible, lively lesson plans present a comprehensive overview of the major Bible stories through reading, drama, music, games, drawing, coloring and crafts. Each activity helps young people understand the Scripture and apply it to their daily lives. The thematic selection follows the church year, so children fully experience stories of Christmas, Holy Week, Easter and Pentecost.
