What is the United Methodist Church doing in Japan??
UMCOR: United Methodist Committee on Relief: is known for being "first in and last out" in every case of emergency. Japan is no exception. To read about what UMCOR is doing in Japan, click here. This article was taken from UMCOR's website at:
Centering Prayer
every Wednesday, 6:00 - 6:30 PM in the Sanctuary
Centering Prayer is a silent prayer practice that can move you toward a Divine Indwelling—the ground of our being.  Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer. Rather, it adds depth of meaning to all prayer and facilitates the movement from more active modes of prayer — verbal, mental or affective prayer — into a receptive prayer of resting in God. Centering Prayer emphasizes prayer as a personal relationship with God and as a movement beyond conversation with Christ to communion with Him.
If this is something new for you, please feel welcome to come and give it a try.  The hour starts with a reading, such as a Psalm, and then there is a quiet time of music leading into a few moments of intentional prayer.  Next we move into the time of Centering Prayer and end with Communion around 6:30PM.  The Sanctuary will stay open until 7PM for those who would like to stay a little longer.  We hope to see you there.
Sierra Leone
Once again we are collecting clothing and household goods for ocean shipment. Starting in August Richard Bright will begin collecting women’s clothing (especially dresses and shoes), children’s clothing, and men’s shirts and pants. Also greatly appreciated are bikes, and sports equipment. The value of an item is in its use. Clean out that closet, check in the garage and pass it along.
