mission statement

Church Mission
"Affirming the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, in the church and community; through preaching, teaching, worship, fellowship, and service."

Church Theme: "Grow Beyond Where You Are"
18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. (2 Peter 3:18)

The Great Commission
Our first purpose is to carry out the charge given in the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20: To go, teach and baptize. We are committed to carrying out this commission locally within our northeast geographical area of Charlotte , NC and to reach the world through our commitment to missions.

We are baptizing new converts in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all things as God has commanded.

The Ordinances
The second purpose of our church is to administer to believers the two ordinances of the New Testament Church as Jesus instructed us to do:

 1. Baptism – Greater Providence follows the practice of immersing believers fully in the water. This follows the example set when John baptized Jesus in the Jordan River . Baptism is an act that should only be engaged in by Christian believers. Baptism is held the last Sunday of each month.

 2. The Lord's Supper – At Greater Providence, the Lord’s Supper or Communion is administered the first Sunday of each month. This sacred time commemorates the death, burial and resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus instructed us to continue this practice until He returns.

The Spiritual Gifts
The third purpose is to exercise the spiritual gifts that God has given for the edification of the body of Christ (Christian believers). In other words, a spiritual gift is a special, supernatural ability that God gives a believer to build up or help other people and to bring glory to God. Every believer has at least one spiritual gift.

Spiritual gifts are always empowered by the Holy Spirit with the ultimate goal of bringing praise and honor to God. Natural talents, on the other hand, are natural abilities that individuals possess often with a goal of entertainment or self-edification.

The New Testament gives five passages which speak specifically of
spiritual gifts.
