Welcome
We are happy to welcome you to our website.
Honesdale Gospel Tabernacle was founded in 1943 under the leadership of the late Pastor William Ross Pisauro. He had a strong desire to establish an independent, Bible church in the Honesdale area.
After 51 years and due to an expanding congregation, land was purchased and our new facility was built at 455 Grove St. and occupied in 1994. Our facility sits high on the mountainside overlooking the charming town of Honesdale, Wayne County, PA.
On May 29, 1945, Honesdale Gospel Tabernacle was formally incorporated as a religious organization under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania whose purpose was to propagate Christian principles through the preaching and teaching of the Word of God.
In 1947 the Tabernacle became a member of the
IFCA, Int., where we remain an active member.
A number of meeting sites were used over the years until December of 1952 when the old Wayne County Memorial Hospital property at the corner of Court and Ninth Streets was purchased. The congregation spent many hours renovating the building so it could be used as a church facility. It became clear in the early 1990s that a plan for expansion was needed. After much prayer and searching a piece of land was found in Honesdale borough and in 1994 we occupied our newly constructed church facility on Grove St.
