History of TFC
Back in the 1940's in Lima, Ohio a group of adults began praying for a ministry to reach the unsaved youth in the area. Youth For Christ® answered that call and came to Lima. By the 1980's, Youth For Christ® ran into a few hardships locally and had to pull their staff out of Lima. Immediately, a small group of volunteers were mandated by God to continue the ministry of the Gospel. As they obediently persevered God gave them the name Teens For Christ® and a new ministry was born. During the 1990's, God gave TFC the mandate "to turn teenagers into fully commited followers of Jesus Christ." In 1997 God appointed a local volunteer leader named Buck Sutton to oversee the ministry. Buck and his wife Kristin both answered the call to propel the ministry forward. In Buck's first year as the Executive Director he was responsible for three senior high chapters totaling about 30 teens and 8 volunteers. Today the ministry is ministering to 17 local chapters and over 400 teenagers a week in the Limaland area. Teens For Christ also started a branch in 2010 in North Port, Florida. Executive Director Bob White was called away from Lima, Ohio to start up the ministry in Florida. Today there are three chapters in the North Port/Fort Myer's area.
If you combine all of the chapters worldwide together, TFC is ministering to over 130,000 teenagers a week during the school year. Our vision is to reach 1 million by expanding into new states and countries.
