It is also important to have a thorough foundation in regard to what God says in His Word about healing... Too many Christians have developed their beliefs surrounding the subject of healing from what they have observed... I have spent my entire life going to church and cannot remember ever seeing anyone healed at the churches I grew up in. I don’t even recall hearing any teaching on biblical healing. I heard that God can heal today but that He doesn’t often heal because of a variety of reasons. Reasons like: He wants to perfect us or He wants to strengthen us or He doesn’t need to do that anymore. I accepted these, believing those who told me had reliable sources. And since I never saw people healed or people coming to receive prayer for healing, I would never have expected to see God do anything at church to heal anyone. I believed doctors were God’s main source of healing today. This is what I learned, more by the practice of everyone around me than from someone having to explain this to me. We didn’t pray with faith and expectation. We were never disappointed because we didn’t expect anything."
