CHECKLIST FOR YOUR SENIOR YEAR
August
September
- keep a calendar of deadline dates
- explore options for scholarships and financial aid
- plan to mail college applications no later than November 1
October
- contact the financial-aid offices of your prospective colleges and request additional applications they may require
- if you have decided on a specific major, check with that academic department for possible freshman scholarships awarded from the department
November
- make note of deadlines for notifying your school of your attendance plans as a deposit may be required
December
- finish your semester with good grades - colleges want to see a strong academic transcript for the senior year
January
- file the FAFSA online between January 1 and March 10 for state and federal financial aid at www.FAFSA.ed.gov
February
- SAR (student aid report from FAFSA filing) should be sent to you between February and April; be sure to review carefully and follow instructions
March
- finalize college decisions, notify the institution's admissions office, notify all other institutions to which you applied but will not attend
- keep tabs on state aid awarded on the ssaci website: www.ssaci.in.gov/student
May
- review financial aid information for your school; report any private grants or scholarships you have been awarded
- submit FAFSA corrections by May 15
June
- confirm that your final transcript has been sent; confirm that your admission packet and information are complete
