from our staff
I knew from childhood that I wanted to be a teacher. I started teaching at a Montessori School in Portland, Oregon, and have been teaching ever since. I have had a few other jobs in-between teaching. I was a hospitality manager for an inn in Kennebunk, Maine. Somehow I always seem to come back to my first love, teaching.
I have over 15 years of teaching experience and have been fortunate to have taught in some amazing schools, one of which was my own home daycare. I relocated back to Santa Barbara and contacted Hope 4 Kids Preschool because I live in the same neighborhood. I met the amazing staff and am blessed to be working as the Pre-K and Kindergarten Readiness Teacher! I have over 30 ECE units and will be continuing with even more classes!
I believe in letting children learn at their own rate, exploring their environment, encouraging their creativity and building their self-esteem. Children are such wonderful little people with inquiring minds, huge hearts, and wide-eyed innocence. There is nothing quite like watching a child discover something new. They get so excited and their eyes grow huge, and then comes the great part...their comments! There is nothing like it!
When I am away from school I am either playing with or walking my doggie daughter, Maggie, reading, knitting, or planning for school. I have two wonderful sons and a lovely daughter-in-law, all living in the San Diego area. My fantastic brother lives in Santa Barbara and my best friend and little angel is my sister who lives in Ventura. My family is extremely important to me as is my faith.
I feel very fortunate to be teaching at Hope 4 Kids Preschool and will have lots of fun bringing in new things for our children!
