Position: Blue Butterfly Associate Teacher
My name is Ellie Milne and I am the Associate Teacher in the Blue Butterfly classroom. I have the pleasure of both leading the Blue Group circle time and assisting Teacher Nancy with the Kindergarten Prep School classes.
I started my college career out at Westmont College in Montecito with hopes of getting my teaching credential so I could be an Elementary School Teacher. After leaving Westmont at the end of my freshman year, I transferred back home to Allan Hancock College. In the meantime, I got a job working at an after-school program with 5 and 6 year olds. This experience led me to realize that I truly enjoy working with younger children, so then I began to focus my education on Child Development courses. Currently, I am waiting to hear back from Cal Poly to see if I am admitted into their Child Development major, in hopes of receiving my Bachelor's of Science degree. With the experience I gain from working at H4K and from furthering my education, I hope to someday become the director of my own preschool.
Being a full-time student doesn't leave me with much free time, but when I do have some, you can find me curled up with a good book, playing a variety of board games with my friends, or volunteering with Hope Community Church. Another thing that I like to do is bake (from a box...not from scratch, but I am hoping to teach myself soon!). Also, when the opportunity comes up, I enjoy babysitting for family and friends. Just another way that I get to further enhance my experience with young children while having loads of fun!
My favorite thing about working with your children (besides the hugs and smiles!!!) is how we learn and grow together, even if I am the one they call, "Teacher." I look forward to working with you to help your child reach their highest potential!
