Hello Cuddlebug Families!
I have always enjoyed being around children and have had many opportunities to do so. Through my experiences I have seen how important the early years of a child's life are and how essential it is to provide a caring and nurturing environment for them.
My family ran a home-based day care for many years and I learned a lot about children observing and playing and helping out. I attended SBCC and received an Associate Degree, then went on to Humboldt State University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development.
When it came time for me to attend Humboldt State I contacted their children's center and was hired to work in their middle toddler classroom. I was responsible for managing the classroom; setting up activities, organizing, cleaning, and most important interacting with the children and their families. There I became the Associate Teacher where my responsibilities grew. I helped with curriculum and assessing the classroom, using ITERS and following NAEYC standards. I taught for two additional years until I graduated.
I recently returned from Ecuador where I worked as a manager for the non-profit organization Life Net Nature, at their reserve in La Tangaras near Mindo, Ecuador. I hosted visitors at the research cabin, did trail maintenance, kept cabins clean and organized creating a welcoming atmosphere in hopes to facilitate eco-tourism that preserved the natural area and helped the local community and its people.
I am patient, responsible, cheerful, and hardworking. I communicate well, and I am fluent in English and Spanish. It is a wonderful opportunity to be a positive, nurturing and caring influence in the lives of children.
