24 Hour Waiting Period Passes

During the early morning hours of June 17, 2010 a bi-partisan agreement was forged with a S.C. House and Senate conference committee on language that gives women contemplating abortion 24 hours to review information that could lead her to make a decision for life for her unborn child.

The new language improves the current Woman’s Right to Know Act of 1995 by:

ü Creating an authentic 24-hour waiting period between the time the woman receives information about abortion and actually goes to have the abortion performed.

ü Providing internet links to the State DHEC website listing pregnancy care centers that offer free ultrasounds.

ü Maintaining the one-hour waiting period between the time the abortionist performs the ultrasound and the abortion.

This legislation was supported by South Carolina Citizens for Life, the South Carolina Baptist Convention and the Palmetto Family Council.

This is definitely a victory for the women of South Carolina , and for pregnancy centers in being able to get information out about the services we can provide!

Standing boldly for life,

Faye S. Hill
Executive Director
