Welcome to the Music Ministry Information Center

Music plays such a big part of our lives. Think about it…when the TV is turned on… music,  the 6:00 PM evening news comes on…music, in the grocery store… music/ soothing music as you leisurely stole around the store, movies, commercials, public events…almost everything has music somehow involved in the program.

Plato once said that music “is a more potent instrument than any other for education”. You will find many teachers of young children who would agree with him. Recent research has found that music uses both sides of the brain, a fact that makes it valuable in all areas of development. Music affects the growth of a child’s brain academically, emotionally, physically and spiritually.

Music is academic. For some people, this is the primary reason for providing music lessons to their children. A recent study from the University of California found that music trains the brain for higher forms of thinking. Second graders who were given music lessons scored 27% higher on proportional math and fractions tests than children who received no special instruction. Research indicates that musical training permanently wires a young mind for enhanced performance.

Music is physical. Music can be described as a sport. Learning to sing and keep rhythm develops coordination. The air and wind power necessary to sing, blow a flute, trumpet or saxophone promotes a healthy body.

Music is emotional. Music is an art form. We are emotional beings and every child requires an artistic outlet. Music may be your child’s vehicle of expression.

Music is for life. Most people can’t play soccer, or football at 70 or 80 years of age but they can sing. And they can play piano or some other instrument. Music is a gift you can give a child or yourself that will last your/ their entire life.

Music also plays an important roll in the church…Meetings, banquets, fellowships, sporting events, and especially Worship…almost all areas of ministry use some form of music at some point in their ministry area.

So...why should churches have music programs, instrumentalists, choirs or trained musicians? The Bible is full of illustrations why we should you get involved or have your children get involved? It’s very simple. We we’re created to worship our creator, to praise Him. All of the other benefits are just that, benefits.

The Bible says God created all creation to worship and praise Him. Even the fowl and the birds of the air give the Lord praise.

As God's children, we should love to worship Him and offer Him our praise.  The Music and Worship Ministry of First Baptist Church High Springs exists to exalt our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in all that we do, to present Him to a lost and dying world, and to give him our best as we lead in Spirit and in Truth.  Believing that God inhabits the praises of His people, we joyfully prepare for and lead in worship weekly, and in special events throughout the year.

Our desire is not only to give Him our best in song, but to grow in love with Him faithfully throughout each day as we give Him praise in all things.  If you know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, and God is calling you to serve Him in this ministry, we invite you to come join with us.

We have choirs for all ages from age 3 through senior adult, opportunities for instrumentalists as well as opportunities to serve in technical areas throughout the church.
