What We Believe

The Bible is God's special way to communicate to us...
We believe that the Bible was written by people who were inspired by the Holy Spirit, and that it is therefore the inspired Word of God. It is the first and last authority regarding instruction about God as well as how we should relate to Him and each other. It is our intent to make the words of the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, the basis of all we do at Orange County First Assembly.

God is three persons in one...
We believe that there is one true God, revealed in Scripture as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three persons of the Trinity are not three distinct Gods, but three distinct persons in one God. No one is more or less divine than the others. Furthermore, Jesus Christ the Son is the Incarnate Lord, both fully man and fully God.

Humanity is messed up and Jesus Christ is the answer...
We believe that humankind, originally good and created by God for relationship with Him, deliberately and willingly disobeyed God and sinned. This action is ultimately the root of all evil and misfortune in the world. Yet through Jesus Christ’s offering of Himself on the Cross, reconciliation with God is freely granted to anyone who surrenders their life to Him. In the church, we celebrate this reconciliation after conversion to Christ, once through water baptism, and thereafter by regularly participating in the Communion, also known as the Lord’s Supper.

God's Spirit helps us live the way we should...
We believe that the Holy Spirit purifies the life of a Christian when they give their life to God, but that it is the pilgrimage of a lifetime to fully conform to Christ’s image. We also believe that after conversion the Holy Spirit desires to empower the Christian for a life of successful witness. This empowerment comes through Spirit Baptism and infilling, which is first accompanied by the gift of speaking with other tongues according to the Scriptures, and is evidenced by greater power to share the faith and live a life devoted to God.

We are representatives of Jesus Christ...
We believe that we are part of a worldwide movement, the Body of Christ, headed by Jesus Himself, which is otherwise known as the Church. We believe that God’s purpose for the Church, and therefore for us, is to lead others to faith in Him and to teach them what is taught in the Bible. The Holy Spirit has gifted the Body with various ministries, such as that of pastors, teachers, elders, and deacons, among others, to help accomplish this end.

God is a healer...
We believe that God can and does heal people of physical illnesses, and though God’s precise actions cannot be predicted or controlled, it is His will to work miracles today as it was in the Bible.

There is hope beyond this world...
We believe that in a sudden, unexpected manner Jesus Christ will physically return to the earth to rescue His people and to judge those who reject God. We believe that at that time He will establish His reign on earth, that the dead will be judged according to their actions in life, and that in the end all creation, both heaven and earth, will be renewed. Evil and trouble will be forgotten, and God’s people will live forever in His presence in unspeakable joy and peace.
