By the middle of the century, Christianity will be dominated by diverse and dynamic communities in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Its theology, social ethics and worship will reflect this historic shift. One of the most important scholars of global Christianity gives content and perspective to these trends.
Speaker:

Dr. Philip Jenkins is a historian and professor of humanities at Pennsylvania State University. He is the author of a leading work about contemporary Christianity, The Next Christendom: The Coming of Global Christianity (2002).
The Rev. Dr. Angelique Walker-Smith is executive director of The Church Federation of Greater Indianapolis, a leader in the World Council of Churches and a frequent visitor to churches in the global South, especially Africa.
Dr. Michael Miller is professor of theology and director of cross-cultural and international programs at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis.
The Church Federation of Greater Indianapolis was honored to welcome the Former US Ambassador for International Religious Freedom John Hanford. The Federation organized his visit to East 91st Christian Church on April 30th with Indiana's Former Secretary of State, Mr. Edwin Simcox, at the church. He and Dr. Angelique Walker-Smith, Federation Executive Director, were acknowledged during morning worship. She and Mr. Simcox accompanied him to the the youth and adult classes where he addressed matters of religious persecution and freedoms globally as a US diplomate.
On Wednesday, May 1st, The Federation hosted a continental breakfast with the Former Ambassador where he engaged the attendees in an informative and thought provoking discussion about matters of religious freedoms and persecution. He answered specific questions of the attendees and related to specific issues affecting Hoosiers. The Church Federation of Greater Indianapolis thanks the office of Senator Richard Lugar for partnering with us to create such a special opportunity for deepening the faith community's understanding of such timely and relevant issues today.
