Military Experience: served in the U.S. Army from March 1943 to December 1945 (E.T.O.) overseas duty in the 3rd Army under General S. Patton Awards: Meritorious Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, five (5) Battle Stars representing five (5) different campaigns, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.
Religion: Accepted Christ as personal Savior at age 9, acknowledged call to ministry in 1953 and began Pastoral career in 1954 in Colespur, Arkansas.
Relocated to Tacoma, Washington in 1956 and established the New Jerusalem Church Of God In Christ in 1957; has been a member of the Church Of God In Christ for more than 59 years.
Served the Washington State Jurisdiction in the capacity of District Superintendent, State Chairman of Elders’ Council, State Y.P.W.W. and Chairman of Finance.
Appointed Prelate of Washington State Jurisdiction, Church Of God In Christ and consecrated to the Bishopric in 1977. The Jurisdiction has grown from 22 churches and missions to 75 congregations. Lead the Jurisdiction in acquiring property for a Jurisdictional Headquarters at 9201 Pacific Ave., in Tacoma.
Past Chairman of the National Church Of God In Christ Tithing Committee.
Elected Chairman of the Judiciary Board of the Church Of God In Christ in 1992 and served in that position as the Chief Justice until 2006.
Honorary Board member of Northwest College, Kirkland, Washington
Honorary and Advisory member of the Tacoma Ministerial Alliance
Accomplishments as Jurisdictional Prelate:
Rallied the state in purchasing site for State Headquarters in Federal Way and later sold that property for a tremendous profit and later purchased the present site at 9201 Pacific Ave.
Bishop has been the forerunner in renovating and upgrading the present location to make on of the best venues for conventions and conferences. It used for conventions and conferences by other groups and some community activities. He used much of his own resources without reservations because of his love for the People of God and a desire to leave a legacy for the future of the Washington State Church Of God In Christ.
Marital Status: Married to Lois I. Westbrook for 64 years; father of 11 children and over 40 grandchildren.
