Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty--that spells CROP. Our church participated in its 20th CROP Hunger Walk. We joined with six other churches: DM United Methodist, DM First Baptist, St. Philomena Catholic, Southminster Presbyterian, Marcus Whitman Presbyterian, and Grace Lutheran to learn about & fight hunger here and around the world. We also had a team join us from Highline Community College - Granola Gang!
CROP Hunger Walks are the fundraising arm of Church World Service. After the Second World War CWS fed the hungry, clothed the naked, and cared for the refugee. For over 60 years it has continued to assist the refugee, provide disaster relief, and support self-help and development in 80 countries. Each Walk designates 25% of the gifts to stay locally--25% of our Des Moines Walk funds goes to the Des Moines Area Food Bank.
