All of our preschool classes follow the Core Knowledge Preschool Sequence to hit learning standards across the domains. Visit their website at : Core Knowledge and download the Content and Skill Guidelines for Preschoolers for an overview. Our Bible instruction is woven throughout our day and we use Preschool Bible Essentials for that. Visit their website at: Bible Essentials to download the scope and sequence and a sample lesson plan. Our teachers use Alphafriends instruction for phonics. Click here for an overview of Alphafriends.
In addition, our Pre-K classes use the Purposeful Design I Know Series – Christian textbooks - for instruction with letters and numbers. The I Know Letters and Sounds text provides reading readiness activities, language interaction, thinking skills, exposure to good literature, and an introduction to alphabet letters and sounds. Click here for a Letters and Sounds overview. I Know How to Count and Write provides readiness activities for mathematics and manuscript printing. The arithmetic readiness program focuses primarily on conceptual skills and includes patterning, graphing, measuring, estimation, and attribute studies, as well as the more traditional exposure to rote counting and set development. The learning of colors, directions, positional words, and body parts is carefully interwoven into the curriculum.
