What Can I Do to Help?

1 Peter 4:10-11
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.
 
 
One of the best ways to connect at Sunset Avenue Baptist Church is to serve.  We want to help you find a place where you can use the special things about yourself, your talents, to serve and find community here.  Nothing encourages bonds of friendships better than working side by side with someone who has like interests to you.    

As you feel led to call Sunset your church home, you will find in you a desire to be a part of what God is doing here.  Through service to others we mature in our faith and begin to love with a compassion that allows us to carry each other's burdens.  What a precious gift that is.

Before you say: "I don't have any talents"... Remember that God created you to do good works that he has planned for YOU.  Try different areas as you discover where he created and designed you to serve.  You may not think you are able.  PERFECT, because God loves to be glorified by using folks just like you.  That way noone can say that you did anything, instead they will see how God worked through you to accomplish His purpose. 

As you explore areas of service keep 3 questions in mind:

  • Am I willing to use my time and talents to accomplish this thing God seems to be calling me to do?
  • Am I joyfully volunteering a portion of my time and talents back to God?
  • Do I see needs around me? If so, how might I be a tiny part of the solution to that need?

Come, be a part of what God is doing and in the process get connected with some people who will love you and encourage you.
