Rev. Daniel Austin
Position: Associate Minister

DANIEL Austin was born in Jacksonville, Florida and raised in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area.  His strong, yet quiet convictions of faith have kept him true to his God-given talent – his gift of being a minstrel.
DANIEL began at an early age to perfect his craft while attending Thomas G. Pullen Creative Performing Arts Magnet School and Suitland High School for the Performing Arts.  Daniel matriculated at Howard University in the School of Fine Arts where he majored in Vocal Performance.
DANIEL started performing across the Metropolitan area at a very early age, which gave him the experience and training to become a professional Artist.
DANIEL is a respected and sought-after music teacher, teaching voice and piano for many years and conducting workshops.  Daniel directed the Howard Gospel Choir, which was the first black gospel choir of its kind and has served as the Music Director for Community Bible Baptist Church in Lanham, Maryland for more than 17 years.
DANIEL was afforded the opportunity to study voice with Monica Spencer, Malika Simms, William Ray, Carmen Balthrop, Kehembe Eichelberger, Mattiwilda Dobbs, Janice Chandler, and Charlotte Holloman and was vocal coached by the legendary Sylvia Olden Lee.  Daniel's versatility in singing contrasting styles has enabled him to participate in classical Master’s classes with Leontyne Price, Dawn Upshaw, William Warfield, and George Shirley.  He sang at the Kennedy Center with Shirley Caesar in a tribute to Bob Dylan and with Jessye Norman to honor Sidney Poitier.  Daniel sang in Washington, D.C.’s annual production “Christmas in Washington” with Al Green, Anita Baker, Gloria Estefan, and Faith Hill.
DANIEL has sung alongside as well as background for Artists such as Tramaine Hawkins, Richard Smallwood, Donnie McClurkin, Shirley Caesar, Vicki Winans, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Twinkie Clark, Karen Clark-Sheard, Donald Lawrence, Kurt Carr, Kim Burrell, Earnest Pugh, Darin Atwater, Isaiah Thomas, Stephanie Mills, Tanya Blount and John Stoddart.
DANIEL has experienced great honors such as being a soloist for the 52nd Presidential Inaugural Swearing-In Ceremony for President Clinton, being chosen as a Top 10 contestant for the BET Gospel Dream 2004 competition, and for winning second place for his artistry as well as his writing abilities at the Gospel Music Association (GMA), “Music in the Rockies”.  Daniel's artistry can be found on his debut project, "On My Mind", Tramaine Hawkin's, "I Never Lost My Praise", Kurt Carr's, "Just the Beginning", Isaiah Thomas', "The Greatest", Teresa Hairston's Gospel Heritage 2006 Praise and Worship CD, Bishop Michael V. Kelsey and New Samaritan's '"Masterpeace" and The D.C. Unity Project.
DANIEL’s music is inspirational.  His writing and arrangements are soulfully moving with wisdom and encouragement in the lyrics.  You will be sure to feel Daniel's heart as you hear the passion through the testimony of his songs.
