N I T R O- Not intimidated to reach out
There are many very worthy charities and you may already play an important role in one or more of these, American Heart Association, American Lung Association, Breast Cancer, Feed the World, Hurricane Katrina Relief, Tsunami Relief, etc. There is a huge need in our own community to provide
basic items to families with children. In canvassing neighborhoods in
Greenville
we have personally witnessed these and more situations, not all basic needs, yet needs that with your help we can meet:
We are working with local and state agencies to get the help they need, but with all the red tape sometimes there is just not enough time. These are only a few things we have seen.
“Witnessed a child sitting on the steps of the apartment complex crying as he was hungry because did not have enough to eat. Four children were in the home and both parents worked.”
“We saw families living in apartments that had been 3 months without electrical power as they could not pay the bill”
“A child trying to ride a bicycle on the rim as his tire had gone flat and no one would fix it for him”(we were able to meet this need and now the child comes regularly)
NITRO Ministries has a Saturday outreach that reaches 600-800 kids per month with a message of hope. (with your help to grow to 800- 1200 this year)
We also gave out over 800 gifts at Christmas to kids in
Pitt
County
. We are also working with other ministries for food and clothing needs.
We were also able to give over 750 book bags with all the school supplies that are needed for the kids to start school with.
NITRO Ministries is currently up and running in eight neighborhoods and we have been approached to expand our outreach rapidly in Pitt County and other counties as well, as people are witnessing results. We need help to continue and expand, and this help can come in three ways:
- SPIRITUAL: You can lift up NITRO in prayer. Please pray for our workers and for the children. Pray for the neighborhoods where these children live.
- PHYSICALLY: Come see what we do and how we do it. Contact us at 252-830-1700 or 252-531-4302 and leave message for Joe Ingle and we will call you back. You can observe a Saturday or set up a meeting and we can explain the ministry.
- FINANCIALLY: Right now it cost approximately $400.00 per month per neighborhood. We have a vision of being in 10 neighborhoods by the end of the year .ALL FUNDS go directly to the NITRO ministry with NO ADMINISTRATIVE cost as we are an all volunteer staff.
