Selecting a church home is one of the most important choices you will make. Where you choose to worship will determine the spiritual depth of your entire family. Finding a loving congregation will help your family grow in relationship with God and develop your God-given gifts to use in service of His Kingdom.
We'd love to have you visit us on Sunday for one of our worship services. You'll find uplifting, blended worship in our Classic Service at 8:30 AM, and modern, contemporary worship in our Modern Service at 11:00 AM. Both services focus on leading each person to an individual encounter with God. The sermons are practical and illustrated, using drama and other visual methods to help you understand and apply God's Word to your life today.
The Sunday evening service at 5:30 PM includes Bible teaching and a blended worship style. Nursery care is provided for children 2 years of age and younger, and preschool is also provided, for little ones who are not yet in kindergarten. Whenever you come, you'll find that the people of Bakersfield First Assembly are warm and friendly, with a genuine love for people. So, whoever you are and wherever you are in life, YOU ARE WELCOME HERE! We pray that you will join us as we journey together. We have so many new people each week, you will fit right in! Because we have newcomers all the time, we have a number of ways to make you feel at home from the moment you arrive on campus. Here are just a few highlights...
If you have any questions at all before or after you visit us, just fill out the online contact form and we’ll get right back to you!
In the parking lot on California Avenue, just past the Marella intersection, there are several "Visitor's Parking" spaces reserved just for you! (click here for directions/map)
Near the center of our foyer you will notice a large wood counter with a few of our team members waiting to assist you. They can give you directions and answer any question you have about First Assembly. Just tell them you're new and let them take over. Our Welcome Center is also where you will find literature on any ministry that does not yet have its own booth in our lobby. You can get extra bulletins and info there at any time. Be sure to visit the other ministry booths in our lobby that may be of interest you.
Our Sunday morning celebrations are at 8:30 am and 11:00 am. We also have tremendous Wednesday night activities and a TON of activities all week long, so grab a bulletin and see where you’d like to plug in!
What should I wear? We are a multi-cultural, multi-generational church so we do not have any dress code to speak of. You will see some in jeans and t-shirts, all the way to 3-piece suits and everything in between! Come as you are. You are welcome and no one here is going to judge you by what you wear.
What are your services like? Our services are great! We have authentic, powerful worship and phenomenal teaching from the Word of God every week. We think you’ll like our celebration services, which are typically 1 ¼ to 1 ½ hours in length. The words to the songs we sing are projected for all to see, but if you listen to one of the Christian Radio stations, you’ll probably know most of the songs already. Our 8:30 service is more traditional with a choir and orchestra leading the worship portion of the service. At 11:00 the worship music is quite contemporary with a band and brass section. Whichever service you attend, you’ll find that we love to worship God...and it shows. Come see for yourself…and join us!
What do you have for our children? We love kids at First Assembly and it shows! Whether you are here for one of our services on Sunday or attend our great Wednesday night programs, you will find LOTS of activities for your kiddies! At 8:30 am and 11:00 am on Sundays we have our critically-acclaimed Children's Church. Children gather to worship God, have an incredible amount of fun and get closer to Jesus in the process. Rest assured, your kids are safe with us! Every single volunteer and staff member at First Assembly goes through extensive federal, state and local background and personal reference checks annually. All of our volunteers wear a color photo ID showing their names and ministry position. Many wear polos coordinated to their ministry team. If that wasn’t enough, we have a sharp Security Team that is deployed throughout, keeping a very watchful eye on our children, our cars and every area of our campus. So are your kids safe? You bet they are!
