AWANA
AWANA stands for Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed, taken from 2 Timothy 2:15. This ministry is passionately pursuing one child at a time for the Gospel of Christ because kids matter deeply to God. This is a great way for your children to be involved in memorizing Scripture. It runs concurrent with the school year for children ages 3 to 6th grade. At Church of the Open Door, our AWANA takes place on Sunday evenings from 5:30 to 7:00 where the clubbers start the night with Game time, then share their memory verses in small groups, and finish the night with a large group teaching time.
Cubbies is for preschoolers. This program is unique because it supports and maintains parents as the primary source of spiritual nurturing. Cubbies directly involves moms and dads in their teaching and learning process.
Sparks is for kids in kindergarten, first and second grades. The Gospel is regularly presented at this critical stage in the child’s spiritual development.
Truth & Training (T&T) is the third—sixth grade program. T&T clubs feature a strong focus on consistent presentations of the Gospel, Scripture application, and personalization of the Word in the AWANA clubbers’ lives.
Clubbers also look forward to a few special events throughout the AWANA Calendar, such as: the AWANA Grand Prix, Wacky Hat Night, Halloween Costume Parade, Backwords Night and especially the AWANA Store Nights when Clubbers redeem their earned AWANA Bucks for prizes.
