Vision/Mission Statement

Our Vision

To Know Christ And To Make Him Known.

As disciples of Jesus Christ, our vision is to promote the growth of the church by sharing the grace of Christ with people, making Christ known in our community, and ministering to the whole person.  Our purpose is to:

·         "Love the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our mind." and to "Love our neighbor as ourselves" (Luke 10:27);

·         Develop a personal relationship with God through worship, prayer and study of the Bible;

·         Obey  what the Word says and be people of good character and integrity who are guided by the leading of the Holy Spirit;

      ·         Make new disciples as we share God's love with all people; and

·         Foster justice as we support world missions, feed the hungry, help the homeless and provide care to those in need in our community.

Our Mission

Wilborn Temple First Church of God in Christ is called to proclaim the Gospel of Christ and the beliefs of the Christian faith, to worship God, and to inspire in all persons a love for Christ, a passion for righteousness, and a consciousness of their duties to God and their fellow human beings. We pledge our lives to Christ and demonstrate His Spirit through worship, witnessing, and ministering to the needs of the people of our community.

This great ministry has been entrusted to us and there is a harvest that has yet to be reaped. We are committed to do whatever it takes to make a difference in this community; to know Christ better and to make Him known (Philippians 3:10).

Our mission is to have a Church that can be a safe gathering place for people to come experience the grace and forgiveness of God; a family of believers where they can find healing for the things that have hurt and wounded their souls; and where they can be nurtured and discipled into faith in the one true and living God, Jesus Christ.  To accomplish our mission, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we will disciple and prepare our members to teach the Word of God, to live as examples in our community, and to be able to minister to the practical needs of the people (food, shelter and clothing) through our outreach ministries, including our food pantry, substance abuse outreach, and prison ministry.
