Pastor Solomon Dees was born in Camden, Alabama and educated in the Alabama Public School District. He relocated to Albany, NY in 1956 & became a member of Wilborn Temple First C.O.G.I.C. in 1957.
He was appointed as Deacon by the late Bishop William Wilborn in 1967 and soon received the call of God to preach the Gospel. He served as President of the Trustee Board for over 30 years and as Sunday School Superintendant for over 31 years. He served as Technical Director of Cardiology Service at Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY for 28 years.
In 1989, he became Associate Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, NY. In 1990, he became Consultant to Cardiology Service at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY. He simultaneously served in these two professional areas for almost 30 years.
In 1995, he was ordained as Elder by the late Bishop Ithiel Clemmons and soon appointed by the late Dr. Emmett H. Jeffress as Assistant Pastor. In 2007, he was appointed Pastor of Wilborn Temple First C.O.G.I.C. by Bishop James Gaylord.
He has been married to Mother Nora Lee Dees for 51 years and is the father of two sons and proud “Papa” of 5 beautiful grandchildren.
He has received several awards in connection with his professional career as Cardio-Vascular Technician and although he is a very busy Pastor, he still does per-diem work at St. Peters Hospital in Albany, NY.
The church body has been blessed by his tremendous administrative and leadership skills. During his years of faithful service, he has, among many other things, spearheaded the restoration of the current historic church building.
Pastor Dees is very grateful and considers it a privilege to have served under the tutelage of great leaders such as the late Bishop Wilborn and Dr. Emmett H. Jeffress.
Above anything else, he is a preacher and teacher of the Word and is a Pastor according to the heart of God. His favorite verses are found in Romans 5:1 and Romans 8:1.
