2011 Faith Based Summit

On Wednesday, June 15, 2011, Pastor & Mother Dees attended the 2011 Capitol Hill Summit of  Faith-Based Leaders in Washington, DC.  Attendees included faith leaders representing African American Communities across NY State and was hosted by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.

During the summit, keynote remarks were given by Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II, Senator Tom Harkin, Reverend Al Sharpton and others.  Attendees were able to participate in panel discussions which included Joshua DuBois, Director of the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships and Marc H. Morial, President and CEO of the National Urban League.  A wealth of information was received on the federal funding process, navigating through federal grants, loans, contracts and other programs available to assist faith-based organizations.  The Summit concluded with a tour of Capitol Hill and a reception.

Pastor Dees looks forward to putting all this information into action and utilizing the available resources to better serve our community.
